An international Indian student community at the University of Virginia

Our Story

Founded in 2019, the Bharatiya Council aims to provide a platform for Indian international students to transition into life at the University of Virginia and assimilate existing cultures. As a CIO, we host cultural events and aid Indian students in their efforts academically and beyond.

"The idea for BC came to us when we noticed a sizable international Indian population at UVA for the first time. The community was fragmented, and we needed a better way to get to know each other. Three years on, we have become much closer, and BC events are always highly anticipated! I'm proud to see what started as a small group for a niche student population has become the best South Asian club on Grounds."
